About Octavus Media
Octavus Media is comprised of Simon Baum and Cat Frink, partners in business and in life. Operating from Eugene, Oregon, we merged our expertise—graphic design and brand strategy alongside videography and photography—to support nonprofits and community-centered businesses.
Our inspiration draws from the selfless service we observed in both our families’ medical practices—embedding our business with values such as creativity, advocacy, and ethics. From our home base in Eugene, Oregon, we aim to help leaders in our community to communicate their stories with compelling clarity. Our goal is simple: to ensure that those committed to doing good in the world are seen and recognized in the best light possible.
Simon Baum
Founder & Lead Creative
In the ‘before times’ (pre-2020) when the world was simpler, Simon was an independent artist. Creating music was the art form where he developed his storytelling, production skills, and marketing chops. When the world shut down, Simon decided now was the time to change careers.
He decided to embark on a path that was more creative, more fulfilling, and had the opportunity to make an impact in people's lives. When Simon first picked up a professional camera, it was to create music videos that told stories that reflected the artist's lyrics. Now he uses his diverse media talents to tell the story of your business.
Cat Frink
Lead Designer & Brand Strategist
Cat has been working as a designer in the Eugene-Springfield community for years. After graduating at the top of her class and serving as production manager at The Torch (LCC student newspaper), Cat has built a career that’s as much about creating effective designs as it is about making a difference.
Fueled by an early passion for nonprofit work, Cat has worked with several organizations including Cascades Raptor Center, HIV Alliance, SMART (Start Making a Reader Today), Lane Community College, and more. She brings years of professional experience to the Octavus team, having worked as both a web designer and graphic designer for local marketing agencies.
When away from the computer, Cat enjoys taking her two dogs for walks through the neighborhood, delighting in the evolving food scene in Eugene, and watching movies with her partner-in-creativity (Simon).
