Octavus Media is a small creative studio led by Cat and Simon Baum.
We met during a business class for media arts majors at Lane Community College and found an instant connection. After graduation, we spent years independently freelancing and working with nonprofits, educators, and mission-driven businesses. After the 2020 pandemic, we realized this was the work we wanted to do full-time and we before launching our own company dedicated to helping the helpers.
Since then, we've partnered with organizations of all sizes and across Oregon to create video, branding, photography, and design work that promotes positive change.

Simon Baum
Media Director
Before 2020, Simon was a musician, and never shy in the spotlight. During the pandemic, he discovered a love for creating and sharing music videos and helping others through media. He is a passionate videographer with a knack for capturing authentic, emotion-driven stories that resonate with diverse audiences. As the technical guy, Simon can talk for hours about cameras, lighting & lenses, audio engineering, and all things 'gear'.
Simon has served on the board for Lane County Film Studios and spends his free time making music and cooking amazing dishes at home. His creativity (paired with his ability to help clients feel at ease on camera) truly makes our video projects and campaigns shine.
Cat Baum
Design Director
As a child, Cat had a reputation for talking too much in class. As a graphic design student, she channeled that enthusiasm for connection to lead study groups and the newspaper production team.
Today, Cat's strategy-focused approach turns concepts into compelling visual narratives. With a desire to promote positive social change, she crafts designs that not only capture attention but also reinforce brand recognition and clear communication. When Cat isn't assisting on video or photoshoots, she can be found in the office working on website designs, or partnering with our design subscription clients to produce stellar graphics.
